care and feeding of your stone + stem purchases

We take great care in creating the items we sell on this website, but as with anything, even things made from cement, there are some Do’s and Do Not Do’s to keep in mind, as well as some minor maintenance steps that can extend the life and loveliness of your stone + stem products.
Generally:
·  Do not machine wash, or submerge, the concrete items in water--Wipe with damp cloth only.
·  The glass propagation tubes can be washed in a dishwasher, or by hand, using a tube brush, but care in handling is a must.
·  Feel free to occasionally buff the exterior of your products to renew the luster of the beeswax polish finish.
· Although cement is durable, it can break (and break other things), especially if dropped, so please use care when handling your stone + stem items.
· Please don’t use your stone + stem treasures to kill anyone—buy them a plant instead!!
Candle-specific (in addition to the above):
· Never leave a lit candle unattended, and at all times, keep away from children and pets.
·  Do not burn any of our candles for longer than 3 hours at a time (although a maximum burn of 2 hours or less for the first lighting should yield the best results.
· Our candles are designed to not reach a full melt pool on the first burn. Any residual wax left around the sides of the jar should melt down as the candle burns further down.
· Always trim the wick to 1/4" before each lighting to help ensure the flame doesn’t get too large.
· Only use lit candles on heat resistant surfaces, away from drafts, curtains and other flammable objects. Cement is a good conductor of heat, so use caution when handling a lit (or recently extinguished) candle.
· Discontinue use when only 1/2" wax remains at the bottom of the container, or at any time if you notice any cracks in the candle’s container.
· Do not keep candles outside when not in use, as rain and snow will not be a friend to the candle or the container.
